Purchasing tickets, data privacy

When making online purchases, personal order data is treated in accordance with the provisions of the effective Data Protection Act.
Kärnten Bus GmbH (hereinafter referred to as Kärnten Bus) can authorise third parties to carry out data processing. In particular, customer data can be transmitted to third parties to be used for order processing, payment transactions and to follow up on outstanding payments.
The possible payment methods are shown online in the ticket sales system.

Reservations
Reservations for journeys from Klagenfurt –Ljubljana or Ljubljana - Klagenfurt can be made via the following booking agencies:

        • on the Internet at www.alpeadrialine.com

        • on board the vehicles

        • at some bus terminals, which have their own service staff

          • Bus Station Ljubljana – cash desk

There is no guarantee that all price categories or price allotments can be booked at all booking agencies. In particular, discount or special offer prices can sometimes only be booked on the Internet.
Due to the technical features of the Internet, the availability resp. accessibility of the booking option on the Internet cannot be guaranteed at all times.

Transportation, validity of the ticket

In transnational transport, photo identification must be shown to the driver of the coach during each journey without being requested to do!

There is only a guarantee for transportation if you booked the tickets on www.alpeadrialine.com or purchased them at the Ljubljana bus terminal. When purchasing the ticket in the coach, without a previous seat reservation, transportation cannot be guaranteed.  A reservation on board the vehicles is only possible insofar as there are still sufficient seats for the entire journey.

The presentable booking confirmation, printed out or in electronic form (as a PDF file) is, in connection with the passenger’s valid official photo identification, regarded as the ticket. Travellers are obligated to present both either upon beginning their journey or in line with the ticket inspection without being requested to do so. The ticket is invalid if official photo identification cannot be presented or has expired.
In this case, there is no claim to a reimbursement of the ticket price.
Every passenger with a valid ticket is entitled to a seat. Reservations for a specific seat cannot be made. Seats can be freely chosen in all vehicles.
The General Transportation Terms for Public Transportation in Motor Vehicles
http://www.bmvit.gv.at/verkehr/strasse/recht/kraftfahrliniengesetz/index.html
and the Directive (EC) no.181/2011 (Passenger rights) apply. http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/HTML/?uri=URISERV:tr0050&from=EN.

Minors under the age of 10 can only travel in the coach in transnational public transportation if they are accompanied during the journey by a person, who is 18 or older.
Children between the age of 10 and 15 can only travel in the coaches without a chaperone if they have a written confirmation from their legal guardian. We explicitly point out that we do not provide any supervision for minors.
In the case of pupils or journeys as a class, supervision lies within the responsibility of the teaching staff or the chaperones travelling with the class.

Tickets purchased via www.alpeadrialine.com are valid from departure until leaving the coach; then they expire. They do not qualify to change coaches unless explicitly indicated on the ticket (e.g. combined ticket).
Tickets are only valid for the route, day of travel and time of travel indicated on the ticket.

Bicycles cannot be taken on the coaches.
The transportation of pets is prohibited. Of course guide dogs and companion dogs which accompany handicapped persons, as well as small pets up to a maximum of 5 kg are excepted from this (these have to reside within a suitable transport box or travel bag).

Only luggage in line with the available luggage space can be taken on the coach.
Generally, only two pieces of luggage can be taken along per person. (Luggage dimensions: length + width + height: 85 x 65 x 45 cm and max. of 25kg).
Hand luggage resp. luggage must be packed in a manner, which ensures the contents against loss, deterioration or damage. The name and addresses of the owner must be firmly attached to the pieces of luggage.
Only luggage in line with the available luggage space can be taken on the coach. Liability is not assumed for money or valuables. Dangerous, bulky or other unusual pieces of luggage cannot be taken on the coach. The motor coach company does not assume liability for luggage, which is lost after being unloaded from the motor coach. Furthermore, liability is not assumed for pieces of luggage (hand luggage) if these remain on the motor coach during stopovers or overnight.

Passenger obligations

Instructions given by the crew must be followed.
The crew and handling staff are authorised to exclude persons, who are obviously under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, from transportation. The same applies to passengers, who, for other reasons, jeopardise the safety of other passengers or significantly impair the well-being of the other passengers. In this case, there is no claim to substitute transportation.
Smoking is prohibited in the coach; even electric cigarettes.
Passengers assume liability for damages to the coach caused by their culpable conduct.
Passengers, who intentionally or gross negligently dirty or soil the coach must pay a cleaning fee amounting to at least 50 Euros, whereby the passenger is permitted to provide proof that no damage was caused or that the damage is significantly less than the flat charge stated.
The Kärnten Bus GmbH can terminate the transportation contract without notice if, despite (oral) warning, the passenger behaves in a manner, which makes it impossible for the carrier and/or the other passengers to continue the journey. This also applies if the passenger does not observe factually justified instructions. In this case, the carrier is still entitled to the fare.
In line with legal requirements, every passenger is obligated to use the safety belts provided that the coach is equipped with them.

Transportation of disabled individuals and persons with reduced mobility

Our coaches comply with the latest standards and meet all requirements for wheelchair accessible public-transit buses.
Persons with reduced mobility over 70% as well as blind persons are entitled to the discount price, which is indicated in the price list under “children under 14,99”. A official verification regarding the degree of disablement must be provided.

Please register in advance (by phone or e-mail) if you travel by wheelchair.

Guide dogs as well as service dogs travel free of charge.

Timetables
Changes in the approved and published times of travel, dates, driving routes and fares for cause, in particular for the implementation of decisions by regulatory authorities are reserved.
Changes in timetables, which become effective after contract conclusion and for which the carrier is not responsible (for instance longer lasting consequences of natural disasters or consistent road work), do not entitle the passenger to assert a claim for damages, provided that said changes only deviate insignificantly from the originally stipulated departure resp. arrival times, i.e. up to a maximum of 2 hours. A significant change in the timetable entitles the passenger to withdraw from the transportation contract free of charge. For this purpose, the passenger can either call the customer service at the Kärnten Bus GmbH under the following telephone number: +43 (0) 463 931 800 or via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Journey realisation
Transportation is carried out on behalf of the Kärnten Bus GmbH and is conducted by the Ebner Reisen GmbH and Reisebüro-Busreisen Juwan GmbH. The Kärnten Bus GmbH is also liable for the actions and failures of its cooperation partners. The same duties, which apply to the Kärnten Bus GbmH, also apply to the cooperation partners when carrying out transportation.
There is no entitlement to transportation in long-distance coaches of the Kärnten Bus GmbH or a specific partner company.

Obligation to transport
There is a right to transportation insofar as there is an obligation to transport based on these special transportation terms and a previous reservation for the journey has been made.
When booking on board the vehicles, there is only an obligation to transport if there are sufficient seats available for the entire journey.

Travel commencement
We recommend that passengers be at the point of departure 10 minutes before departure.
In the event that the passenger is not at the point of departure for the booked journey at the time of scheduled departure, an entitlement to transportation is no longer applicable and the booked journey can be otherwise assigned.
If the passenger is informed of a delay by the Kärnten Bus GmbH via text message, email or in any other written form, the entitlement to transportation is no longer applicable as of the delayed departure time stated in the text message or email.
Upon travel commencement, the passenger must identify him- or herself to the crew using the presentable booking confirmation, printed out or in electronic form (as a PDF file), as well as with valid, official photo identification (ID card or passport).

International routes
In international transport, the passenger is responsible for the compliance with passport, visa, foreign currency, customs and health regulations, etc. Disadvantages, which result from a non-compliance with these regulations, are at the expense of the passenger, even if these regulations are altered after the reservation has been made.
If the passenger does not have valid travel documents, the obligation to transport by the Kärnten Bus GmbH is no longer applicable. Changes of reservations or cancellations are only possible according to the arranged terms in the “Change of reservation and cancellation” section.

Luggage, which is being transported, may not be locked, to help accelerate possible customs clearance.
The passenger is obligated to only have the permitted type and amount of duty-free goods in his or her possession.

Passenger rights in the event of cancellation or delay

1. Cancellation
If the carrier must reasonably assume (e.g. road blocks) that the departure of the public transportation service will be cancelled from a bus terminal/bus stop or has been delayed by more than 120 minutes, the passenger can choose from the following:
a. Continue the journey or continue the journey with an altered route to the destination at the earliest possible time under similar conditions.
b. Reimbursement of the fare.

2. Operational failure during the journey
In the event that the coach can no longer be operated during the journey, the carrier must either enable the passenger to
a.    continue the journey with another coach to the destination or
b.    transport the passenger to a suitable holding point, from where the continuation of journey is possible.

3. Delay
The punctual arrival at the destination cannot be guaranteed in the event of force majeure, weather related delays or operational failure of the coach. The Kärnten Bus GmbH or its partners do not assume any liability for possible damages or loss, which result from missing connecting flights, trains, buses, etc.
